NEW 2019 Golf Rules
You may have heard that there are some changes to the Rules of Golf for 2019. If you watch golf on TV you may notice some players leaving the flagstick in the cup while putting (a new rule).
Or you may notice that the ball is being dropped from knee height instead of shoulder height (another new rule).
While I must admit that some of the rules may take a bit of adjusting, it is worth taking a read and reviewing exactly what is now different. It is definitely advantageous to familiarize yourself with the changes as they are designed to be more player friendly.
Below is an infographic from the USGA on the 5 Most Significant Changes for 2019

I just want to make sure you are ready for the 2019 golf season.
The big one, as I mentioned, is you can now leave the pin in the cup when you putt! I have been playing golf for so many years this is a bit hard for me to get used to BUT keep in mind it is optional.
The idea is to increase pace of play.
Not sure it has helped in my groups as we had to repeatedly ask each player’s preference – some want it in and some want it out. I am not sure it has helped the pace at least in my golf groups this year.
I am curious to hear what YOU think about the new rule changes.
Regardless, it is always a good idea to review the new changes (and the rules in general) for 2 major reasons: to not be unnecessarily penalized and to take advantage of the rules when appropriate.
Hope you have an amazing golf season!
