Everyone I know who plays golf wants to hit it further. Distance can be tricky though. The irony is that the harder we try to gain it the more elusive it becomes.
Let’s face it, you could be losing distance for a number of reasons:
And many more yet it would be impossible for me to guess.
I rarely run into a golfer who suggest squeezing harder, if ever. Most golfers squeeze WAY too hard. This I can promise you, the club is not going to fly down the range (unless you are hitting balls in the rain with old grips, then it might). In case that is your worry.
Squeezing the grip overly hard costs you distance because everything gets tight – your arms, shoulders, and hands. Tight muscles are slow muscles. You can’t create a loose and fluid swing if you are squeezing the club too tightly. Check out the video below for some tips on how to loosen up!
Your body plays an important role in your power and distance. But your pivot (turn) can wreck havoc on your swing if done improperly. Watch the video below for 3 common pivot errors and how to fix them.
Yes, I went there but it is not hyperbole. I really believe that golf is so much better if you have this one move in your golf swing. This can be a TOTAL game changer!
Give these tips a try and see if you can add a few more yards to your golf shots. Remember harder does not always mean longer.
You CAN do this!
